Steve Nash shaves off his trademark long, unruly hair

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Steve Nash has replaced his mop-top with a buzz cut. The two-time NBA most valuable player showed up at a basketball camp Wednesday with his trademark unruly hairdo gone.
‘‘I just cut it,’’ the Suns star said with a shrug. ‘‘I don’t really have a rhyme or reason. I felt like taking it off.’’ Nash is almost as famous for his long, wild hair as he is for his pinpoint passes and sharp shooting.

The 1990’s, you may recall, were a golden age of cheaply made movies about white guys in their 20’s sitting around doing nothing. This is not a genre that has spawned very many sequels. The white guys who made those movies either faded away, went on to bigger things or kept making variations on the same picture again and again.

AMD said near $5.5 bln deal to buy ATI

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD.N), the No. 2 supplier of computer processors, is close to a deal to buy graphics chip maker ATI Technologies Inc. (ATYT.O) (ATY.TO) for $5.5 billion, a source familiar with the situation said on Friday.

Such a deal would shake up the processor industry, which is witnessing a tooth-and-nail fight for market share between AMD and larger rival Intel Corp. (INTC.O). AMD would gain one of two major graphics chips makers, the other being Nvidia Corp.
